How It Works
Answer: Coinstar kiosks charge a fee to cover the cost of the coin counting service and maintenance of the machines. The fees are charged by Coinstar, not Pioneer AFCU. For coin deposits, Coinstar charges a fee of 5% of the total amount deposited. For depositing bills directly into your checking account, there is a flat fee of $5.95 per transaction. Our partnership with Coinstar provides an additional convenient option for our members to deposit their coins and bills directly into their accounts, especially outside of normal banking hours or when away from our branches.
Answer: Currently, Coinstar is our only partner for coin depositing that offers direct deposit into your Pioneer AFCU account. We understand the concerns about fees and are always looking for ways to enhance services and reduce costs for our members. We continue to accept rolled coins at most of our branches, except the main branch. This allows you to deposit coins without a service fee.
